Topic of discussion:
We live in a world where we strive to be successful. In many cultures that success is measured by how much money we make and how much we have. Studies have shown even though people gain affluence, money and fame, people seem to want to more. It is hard to even put a number on how much money is enough to be successful. We will explore this idea with a few basic rules.
We will read this passage:
There was a man his name really isn't important, however some would consider him successful. He worked for 35 years advancing in his career. He gained affluence in his line of work, earn hefty amounts of money trading on the stock market. He made some pretty good investments over the years, while living very frugally. He was never broke a day in his life, never used plastic, only used cash. He never really followed any of his dreams, but made many sacrifices for his family. Now his is 68 years old. His children have all moved far away, and he and his wife are now living alone. While he doesn't live paycheck to paycheck, and he has the time he now feels too tired to chase after his dreams. So he spends his time taking it easy, visiting his children twice a year.
Do you feel that the man was successful?
Do you think money can bring success? (please use examples!)
